Indonesia's Finance Minister Assures Budget Resilience Amid Rising Oil Prices
Indonesia's Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has assured that the country's 2026 State Budget (APBN) will remain resilient despite a recent surge in global crude oil prices. The minister said that higher oil prices would narrow the government's fiscal room, but it does not endanger the state budget.
'With oil prices rising again, our fiscal space is becoming more limited,' Purbaya told reporters at the Finance Ministry in Jakarta on Friday.
The rise in global oil prices has seen West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil prices jump over 6 percent to above US$92 per barrel, while Brent crude rose more than 6 percent to surpass US$100 per barrel. This is its highest level since early June 2026.
