Indonesia's Russian Oil Imports Spark Criticism From West

The Indonesian government's decision to import oil from Russia has drawn criticism from Western countries, which have imposed new sanctions on Moscow. The European Union extended its economic sanctions against Russia for another year, citing the country's 'illegal actions and violations of international law.'

US senators also introduced a bill imposing new sanctions on Russia, including tariffs of up to 100 percent on major buyers of Russian crude oil and natural gas.

Meanwhile, Indonesia has started importing oil from Russia, with Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stating that the country still needs oil imports despite the move being seen as contradictory to Western actions.
