Intraco Restores CNG Supply after Nine-Month Disruption

Intraco Refueling Station has resumed supplying compressed natural gas (CNG) to industrial belts in Dhaka and Gazipur after nearly nine months of disruption. The Department of Explosives recently granted regulatory clearance for all of Intraco's gas transport vehicles, allowing the company to restore operations.

The department's director general, Mohammad Mohshin Uddin, said that they had allowed all of Intraco's tube and cascade cylinder trailers to carry gas after examining their viability in a laboratory in China. The government considered the prolonged gas shortage, which has forced many factories to shut down or scale back production.

Earlier this year, the Department of Explosives issued licences to 18 tube-trailer trucks carrying compressed gas, and last week it granted six-month permission to the remaining 20 cascade cylinder trailers. Intraco purchases gas from Sundarban Gas Company at Tk 17.10 per unit and sells CNG at Tk 47.60 per unit.

The company's financial performance was affected by the suspension of operations, with earnings per share falling to Tk 0.13 in October-December last year from Tk 0.47 in the same period of the previous year. Intraco was also downgraded to the 'Z' category on the stock exchanges in February.
