Intraco Resumes CNG Supply After Nearly Nine-Month Disruption

Intraco Refueling Station has resumed supplying compressed natural gas (CNG) to industrial belts in Dhaka and Gazipur after nearly nine months, following regulatory clearance for all of its gas transport vehicles. The Department of Explosives allowed Intraco's tube and cascade cylinder trailers to transport gas after verifying their technical fitness.

The clearance was granted after a delegation from the Department of Explosives visited the manufacturing companies in China to verify the technical fitness of the vehicles used by Intraco. The company had withdrawn 35 unlicensed vehicles in November last year following instructions from the Department of Explosives, which led to a sharp decline in gas transportation and negatively impacted its financial performance.

Intraco's earnings per share fell to Tk 0.13 in October-December last year from Tk 0.47 in the same period of the previous year, and it posted a loss of Tk 0.19 per share against a profit of Tk 0.35 per share in January-March this year. The company's contract with Sundarban Gas Company requires it to transport around 3.5 million cubic feet of gas per day, but it has been purchasing gas at Tk 17.10 per unit and selling CNG at Tk 47.60 per unit.
