Iowa Fuel Prices Rise, Diesel Up 14 Cents
The fuel prices in Iowa have increased, with regular unleaded gasoline averaging $3.79 per gallon as of Wednesday, August 5, 2026. This is a 4-cent rise from the previous week and 82 cents higher than it was a year ago.
Nationally, regular unleaded averaged $4.08 per gallon on Wednesday, down 1 cent from the prior week. The statewide retail average for diesel prices also rose, increasing by 14 cents to $5.11 per gallon.
Crude oil prices fell during the week, with West Texas Intermediate dropping $9.37 per barrel to $75.61 and Brent crude declining $11.01 to $79.52. One year ago, WTI was $66.20 and Brent crude was $69.14.
