Iowa/Minnesota Slaughter Cattle Prices Stagnate on August 24
The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service released its Iowa/Minnesota Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle report for August 25, 2026. According to the report, there was limited cash trade activity in the Western Corn Belt on Monday, August 24. Only a few early live purchases were made at $218.00 per hundredweight.
The last established market test for the region occurred the previous week, with live purchases ranging from $222.00 to $226.00, mostly at $225.00, and dressed purchases ranging from $350.00 to $356.00, mostly at $355.00.
Confirmed negotiated cash sales totaled 915 head in this period, compared to 161 head in the same period last year. The live FOB category reported an average weight of 1,543.1 pounds and an average price of $218.00 for all beef type steers and heifers.
