The US Central Command has accused Iran of deliberately attacking the Panama-flagged tanker El Gaia twice in seven days. According to CENTCOM, an Iranian missile hit the tanker last month before a drone struck it again over the weekend off Oman.

Thirteen of the vessel's fourteen Indian crew members were rescued while search operations continued for the missing crew member. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global oil supplies.
