Saudi Arabia has accused Iran of attacking one of its oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in the deaths of two crew members. The attack occurred while the vessel was transiting the strait, which is a critical energy chokepoint for global oil exports. According to Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry, the incident marked a new escalation in the security crisis surrounding the strait.

The ministry condemned the attack as a violation of international law and maritime security, but did not specify the exact time or method of the attack. The national shipping company, Bahri, confirmed that two Filipino crew members were killed on board the Saudi tanker SIDR, which was carrying Saudi crude oil through the strait.

The Strait of Hormuz has been a source of concern in recent months due to escalating tensions between Iran and the United States over military operations and freedom of navigation. The latest incident follows another recent attack on a large tanker that struck two sea mines and caught fire, further raising concerns over the safety of commercial shipping in the Gulf.
