Iran Accused of Attacking Saudi Oil Tanker in Strait of Hormuz

Saudi Arabia has accused Iran of attacking one of its oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, killing two Filipino crew members.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry said the tanker Sidr was attacked while transiting the strategic waterway late Monday, and Bahri confirmed that two seafarers were killed in what it described as a security incident involving the vessel at around 11:40pm local time on Monday.

The latest incident comes as tensions remain high around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global energy supplies. Iran has threatened vessels attempting to transit the strait without its authorization, raising concerns over the movement of oil and gas from the energy-rich Gulf region.
