Iran Accused of Targeting Oil Tanker in Strait of Hormuz
Riyadh [Saudi Arabia], September 3 - In a stern condemnation of Iran's actions, Saudi Arabia accused Tehran of targeting an oil tanker, Sidr, as it transited through the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in fatalities among the vessel's crew.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement expressing its 'strongest condemnation' of the action, which also targeted Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait. The ministry emphasized the need to protect maritime trade routes and ensure global energy supplies remain secure.
Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its full solidarity with neighboring nations, including Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait, and expressed unwavering support for any measures they take to safeguard their sovereignty and national security against external threats.
Qatar and Kuwait also condemned the escalation, calling for an immediate safeguard of vital international shipping corridors. The State of Qatar characterized the attack as 'a blatant violation of the rules of international law and freedom of maritime navigation.'
