Iran Accuses Trump Administration of Manipulating Oil Prices for Personal Gain
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused elements within the Trump administration of manipulating oil prices for personal gain. In a statement on social media platform X, Araghchi claimed that Iran's intelligence had uncovered 'major efforts to game energy markets.'
Araghchi alleged that US government elements use 'gullible media' to influence energy prices and keep President Donald Trump mired in a losing war. He also accused 'Israel-aligned actors' of promoting the conflict with rosy assessments, saying that US consumers ultimately bear the cost.
The accusations come as tensions between Iran and the US remain high, particularly over the 2026 nuclear deal negotiations. Araghchi's statement suggests that the Iranian government believes the Trump administration is using energy prices as a tool to exert pressure on Iran.
