Iran Allows Iraqi Oil Tankers Through Hormuz After Repeated Requests
Iran has granted permission for Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz after repeated requests from Baghdad. The move follows a visit by Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf to Iraq, where he discussed various issues with Iraqi officials.
Iraqi President Nizar Amedi said that Iran had facilitated the passage of vessels carrying Iraqi oil through the Strait in recent days and that Baghdad was working on exporting oil through other ports such as Ceyhan in Turkey, Baniyas in Syria, and Aqaba in Jordan.
The issue remains complicated, with traffic in the strait significantly below pre-war levels due to attacks and closures. Iraq produced around 4 million barrels of oil per day before the Iran war.
