Iran Allows Iraqi Oil Tankers Through Strait of Hormuz Amidst Tensions

Iran has granted permission to Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian state news agency IRNA. This decision was made after Iraq reportedly raised the issue through multiple channels. The uncertainty surrounding the Strait due to US-Iran tensions had led Iraq to explore alternative export routes.

The country has been seeking to increase oil exports via Turkey's Ceyhan port, Syria's Baniyas port, and Jordan's Aqaba port.
