Iran Announces New Restricted Zone in Gulf Amid Ongoing Military Tensions

Iran has announced plans to establish a new restricted zone in the Gulf, which will begin from where the U.S. blockade of Iran starts and extend into areas of the Gulf.

Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said that any ship entering this new zone would be added to a sanctions list.

The move is in response to recent military action between the U.S. and Iran, including strikes on oil tankers by both sides.

The Strait of Hormuz, a vital energy conduit, has seen average daily transit numbers drop to 10 ships over the past 10 days, down from an average of around 20 in previous months.
