Iran-Backed Drone Attacks Continue Across Middle East Amid Lull in US-Iran Conflict
Regional violence in the Middle East persists despite a temporary pause in direct military strikes between the US and Iran. The lull was caused by Washington temporarily halting its campaign to allow international mediators, including Qatar and Pakistan, to negotiate a new ceasefire.
Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry reported intercepting several drones launched from Iraqi territory that targeted petroleum facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh region. Satellite imagery showed damage at Saudi Aramco's Abqaiq oil processing facility, with a large plume of smoke reportedly rising from the site after the attack.
Meanwhile, Jordan intercepted multiple drones near its border, while Israel shot down two drones near the Dead Sea without entering Israeli territory. In Iraq, armed groups launched drones at camps housing Iranian Kurdish dissident groups in the north.
