Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry has confirmed that it intercepted drones targeting oil facilities in its eastern province and Riyadh. The ministry attributed the attack to Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq, saying it 'reserves the right to respond'.

The incident comes as tensions between the United States and Iran remain high, with mediators suggesting a return to negotiations is possible. However, drone attacks on Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Iraq suggest that Tehran may be testing the new US stance.

Jordan reported shooting down two drones, while Iraqi security sources said strikes hit camps housing Iranian-Kurdish opposition fighters in northern Iraq. The officials did not specify the source of the attack, but it coincides with a lull in hostilities between the US and Iran.
