Iran Blacklists 45 Vessels, Indian Refiners Halt Use Amid Security Concerns

Iran has blacklisted 45 vessels for violating its rules on crossing the Strait of Hormuz, leading to concerns among Indian oil refiners and a global energy major about security risks.

The blacklist targets vessels involved in shuttle runs conducted by Gulf oil producers, which transport crude through the Strait before transferring cargo via ship-to-ship (STS) operations in the Gulf of Oman.

Indian oil refiners, including at least three unnamed companies, and a global energy major are halting use of the blacklisted ships due to security concerns.

The move is part of Tehran's pressure on shipping through the strategic waterway amid the ongoing U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran.
