Iran Blocks Iraq Oil Exports Through Hormuz Amid Regional Tensions

A senior Iraq official has called on Iran to give Iraq's oil exports special consideration through the Strait of Hormuz.

The request comes as tensions remain high in the region, with Iran having detained a tanker in the strait for refusing to use a designated route and failing to pay transit fees.

This is not the first time Iran has taken such action; commercial traffic through the strait remains at a standstill following reports of an incident in the Gulf of Oman earlier this month.
