Iran Braces for Winter Gas Shortages Amid War Damage

The ongoing conflict between Iran and the US has left the country's gas infrastructure severely damaged. As a result, officials are warning of potential natural gas shortages this winter.

Houshang Seydali, director of gas distribution coordination at the National Iranian Gas Company, said that unless authorities adopt strong and coordinated measures ahead of the winter season, several provinces could face supply problems.

The provinces most at risk are North Khorasan, Mazandaran, and Golestan. Eight other provinces may also experience restrictions on their gas supplies due to pressure levels and the overall condition of Iran's gas distribution network.

Seydali emphasized that industry, households, and National Iranian Gas Company employees will need to contribute to reducing demand, particularly during periods of extreme cold. Reducing consumption would help preserve supplies for both households and industrial users during the most challenging periods of the winter.
