Iran Bypasses US-Imposed Blockade on Oil Deliveries
Iran's Petroleum Minister Mohsen Paknejad announced that despite a 40-day war and subsequent maritime blockade, the country's crude oil exports continued uninterrupted.
The conflict began on February 28, with attacks on Iranian energy infrastructure causing physical damage to oil storage and distribution facilities as well as major gas-processing infrastructure. The South Pars gas complex was among those targeted.
Paknejad stated that Iran adopted measures to bypass the blockade by selling and delivering oil thousands of kilometers away from the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman. A temporary pause in the blockade allowed for a significant volume of crude to be moved outside the restricted waters, reducing exposure to maritime restrictions.
The pressure resumed on July 15, with Paknejad noting that Iran's oil industry has not stopped and is pursuing various solutions to bypass the blockade entirely.
