Iran Conflict Sparks Oil Price Spike, Gas Costs Soar in Huntsville

Oil prices have surged past $100 per barrel due to the ongoing conflict with Iran, disrupting global oil supplies and driving up gas costs in Alabama. In Huntsville, drivers are feeling the pinch at the pump.

The average price of regular gas has risen by over 8 cents from last week, reaching $3.84 according to AAA. This is more than a 20-cent increase from just one month ago. At a Circle K on University Drive, the price of regular gas was $3.79 per gallon on Friday but had increased to $3.89 per gallon by Wednesday.

Residents like Deshawnna Covington are changing their habits due to the rising costs. 'I at least refill every other day now,' she said. 'When I used to refill at least once a week. I have a small vehicle. It doesn’t take that much gas, but now I’m paying twice as much.'

President Trump has predicted that oil prices will decrease after the November midterm elections, stating that 'oil prices will be tumbling downward' and promising that gasoline prices could fall below $2 per gallon.
