Iran Demands Environmental Safeguards for Strait of Hormuz Amid Oil Pollution Concerns

Tehran is calling for environmental safeguards in the Strait of Hormuz after recent oil pollution along Iran's coast. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei referred to videos showing oil pollution along the shores of Qeshm Island.

Baqaei, on X, emphasized that protection of the environment must be a core part of any future administration of the Strait of Hormuz. He highlighted recent incidents of oil pollution along Iran's coast as a pressing concern.
