Iran Denies Role in Saudi Pipeline Attack Amid Rising Regional Tensions

Iran has denied any involvement in an attack on Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline. The pipeline was struck by drones on September 10, forcing a temporary shutdown of the route.

US President Donald Trump had previously suggested that Iran was responsible for the attack, stating 'I think they are, probably they are.'

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baqaei described this accusation as a 'lie', saying that actors from outside the Middle East were trying to increase tensions in the region.

The US Navy has imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports and Iran largely blocked traffic through the Strait of Hormuz after the outbreak of war in February. The strait typically handles around 125 large commercial vessels per day, but traffic fell to single-digit levels over the weekend.
