Iran Denies Trump's Claim of Bombing Kharg Oil Terminal
Iranian officials have rejected claims by US President Donald Trump that the country's major oil terminal on Kharg Island was bombed. The alleged attack, which was shown in an AI-generated video posted by Trump on his Truth Social platform, was met with skepticism by Iran's state-run National Iranian Oil Company.
Hamid Bovard, the CEO of the company, called Trump's claim 'laughable' and said that conditions on Kharg Island remained normal. He added that oil production and other operations on the island continued uninterrupted, with workers repairing damage from earlier attacks while also carrying out modernization work.
The incident marks a return to direct hostilities between the US and Iran after several weeks of relative calm. The latest fighting followed an earlier US strike on rocket launchers on Iran's Larak Island, which was located about 410 miles east of Kharg. Iranian media reported that Iran responded by attacking two US bases in Jordan.
