Iran Denies US Claim of Destroyed Oil Terminal

The United States and Iran resumed military hostilities on August 30, with US President Donald Trump claiming that Iran's Kharg oil terminal had been destroyed by huge explosions in an AI-generated video posted on his Truth Social platform.

An Iranian official rejected the claim as 'laughable', stating that conditions on Kharg Island remained normal and oil production continued uninterrupted. Hamid Bovard, chief executive of Iran's state-run National Iranian Oil Company, said Trump's tweets were false and that workers were repairing damage from earlier attacks while carrying out modernization work at the facilities.

Kharg Island is one of Iran's most important energy facilities, handling about 90 percent of the country's oil exports before the war began with US and Israeli attacks on February 28. Any major attack on the facility could disrupt Iran's oil shipments and affect global energy trade.
