Iran Discovers Major Natural Gas Reserve Amid Ongoing War Damage

Iran has announced the discovery of over 200 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the southern part of Fars province, according to state media. The announcement comes after months of damage to the country's energy infrastructure and reduced production due to the ongoing Middle East war.

Petroleum Minister Mohsen Paknejad described the newly discovered gas as 'sweet', meaning it contains very little hydrogen sulphide, which lowers operating and development costs. However, Bloomberg reported that any new production from the site would likely be years away.
