Iran Disputes Trump's 'Peace Talks' Boosting Oil Prices
Oil prices rebounded on Tuesday after US President Donald Trump's claim of peace talks with Iran was disputed by Tehran.
Brent crude futures rose 1 percent to $84.61 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude climbed 0.8 percent to $80.99.
The prices had dropped nearly 7 and over 5 percent respectively in the previous session after Trump said he would suspend further attacks on Iran pending peace talks and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
However, Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei rejected Trump's claim, stating that no negotiations with the US were underway and no meetings were scheduled.
