Iran Eases Oil Passage Restrictions for Iraqi Tankers Through Strait of Hormuz
Iran has relaxed its control over the Strait of Hormuz, allowing several Iraqi oil tankers to pass through. This move follows numerous requests from Baghdad and was facilitated by Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf's visit to Iraq.
The approval comes as a significant development for Iraq, which has faced challenges in navigating the geopolitical complexities of the region. The nation is intensifying efforts to diversify its export routes through Turkey, Syria, and Jordan, according to Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi.
Iraqi President Nizar Amedi confirmed Iran's facilitation of the vessels' passage, noting ongoing discussions about exporting Iraqi oil through the Strait at the Baghdad Dialogue policy conference. The Strait of Hormuz is a strategically crucial waterway that connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman.
