Iran Engages in Diplomatic Efforts with Neighbors Amid US-Iran Pause
Iran has continued to engage in diplomatic efforts with Saudi Arabia and Oman regarding the future of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically vital maritime passage. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi held separate phone calls with Saudi Arabia's Faisal bin Farhan and Oman's Badr Al-Busaidi, emphasizing the need for cooperation to establish stability in the region.
The discussions come as a pause in US-Iran hostilities appears to hold after two weeks of strikes between the adversaries came to a temporary halt on Friday. Markets have responded positively to the pause, with stocks rallying and oil prices falling on Monday.
However, other Middle East actors have continued military action in recent days, with Saudi Arabia reporting that it had intercepted a number of drones allegedly launched by Iran-backed militias in Iraq targeting the kingdom's oil facilities.
