Iran Evades Blockade, Continues Oil Exports Despite US Attacks
The Iranian oil industry is finding ways to circumvent the US military blockade of its ports and vessels, according to Petroleum Minister Mohsen Paknejad. Speaking to the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), he described the situation as 'difficult' and acknowledged that various strategies are being pursued to overcome the blockade.
The US forces have attacked Kharg Island off Iran's southwestern coast over 550 times during the first 40 days of the conflict, Paknejad said. Before the war, Iran exported around 90 percent of its crude oil from this island.
