Iran Expands No-Go Zone, Attacks US Vessels Amid Escalating Tensions
Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they attacked two US vessels and several oil tankers on Wednesday, expanding a no-go zone outside the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The attacks, along with fighting with the United States, sent oil prices above $100 per barrel as Tehran continues to choke off the strait and Washington presses a counter-blockade of Iranian ports.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations said 'several' vessels in the Gulf of Oman were 'subject to disabling fire' due to ongoing military activity in the region.
Iran's Guards also expanded their prohibited zone, which now includes parts of the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea, saying that exact coordinates will be announced later.
The US military had said it was responding to an Iranian attack targeting an American warship, the second such incident in less than a week.
