Iran Eyes Expanded Petroleum Exports to Tajikistan Amid Energy Cooperation

Iran is considering exporting additional petroleum products to Tajikistan, said Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad. The talks between Iran and Tajikistan focused on the possibility of exporting petroleum products to help address some of the challenges faced by Tajikistan in recent days.

Paknejad noted that various mechanisms for cooperation have been considered, including establishing a working group to study the issues and conduct expert discussions. He added that Iran and Tajikistan are taking steps to establish a long-term contractual framework to ensure the supply of crude oil and fuel required by Tajikistan's oil refinery.

Tajikistan's Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma and Minister of Transport Azim Ibrahim arrived in Tehran at the head of a high-level delegation. Paknejad said that the meeting resulted in a common understanding on the issue, and that a large part of bilateral cooperation is currently being implemented.
