Iran Grants Iraqi Oil Tankers Passage Through Strait of Hormuz Amid Tensions with US
Tehran has granted permission for several Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, following repeated appeals from Baghdad. This decision comes after Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf visited Iraq and met with the Iraqi President Nizar Amedi.
Amedi acknowledged that Iran had already allowed some Iraqi oil vessels to pass, describing the matter as 'intricate'.
Iran's Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei stated in a state television interview that the US has abandoned hope of reopening the Strait through military action and now believes an economic blockade could work.
