Tehran has allowed a number of Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran's state news agency IRNA.

The permission was granted after Iraqi parliament speaker Haibat al-Halbousi asked his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf for passage while he was visiting the country.

This development comes as tensions between Iran and other countries, particularly the US, have been escalating in recent months due to concerns over oil tanker security in the region.
