Iran Grants Permission for Iraqi Oil Tankers Through Strait of Hormuz
Iran has granted permission for Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz after multiple requests from Baghdad, according to IRNA. This move comes as part of a broader effort by Iraq to expand its oil exports.
The news agency reported that Iran facilitated the passage of ships carrying Iraqi oil through the strait in recent days. During a visit to Iraq by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Baghdad made multiple requests for permission to pass through the strait, with obtaining special permits being one of its main demands.
Iraqi President Nizar Amedy stated that Iran has facilitated the passage of ships carrying Iraqi oil through the strait in recent days. Iraq was among the countries hardest hit by Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz and is working to expand exports through various ports, including the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
