Iran Launches Drone Strike and Missile Attack on UAE Oil Facility
A drone strike from Iran has hit an oil facility in Fujairah, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities announced on May 4. The attack sparked a fire at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ), which was contained by civil defense teams.
The UAE strongly condemned the attack as a 'terrorist act' and stated that it constitutes a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which emphasizes the freedom of navigation and prohibits targeting commercial vessels or disrupting international shipping lanes.
In a related development, Emirati air defenses successfully intercepted four missiles launched from Iran on May 4. Three missiles were neutralized over the country's territorial waters, while a fourth fell into the sea.
