Iran Missile Attack Sends Oil Prices Soaring Amid Middle East Tensions
The escalating tensions in the Middle East have taken a dramatic turn as Iran launched ballistic missiles at US forces, prompting a surge in crude oil prices. According to reports from the US Central Command (CENTCOM), multiple Iranian missiles were fired in an 'attempted surprise attack' on US military bases in the region.
The incoming missiles were successfully destroyed by US missile defense systems without causing any damage or casualties. However, this latest development has raised concerns about regional stability and energy supply sources.
As a result of these tensions, crude oil prices have skyrocketed with US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil rising by over 4% to reach $82 per barrel, while Brent crude exceeded the mark of $88 per barrel. The Middle East is responsible for nearly 30% of the world's oil production.
