Iran Oil Giant Slammed with $4.7 Billion Tax Penalty
The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) is facing a massive tax fine of approximately $4.7 billion, or 287 trillion tomans.
This sum was levied by the Iranian National Tax Administration (INTA) against NIOC's total sales and transactions, despite the company being exempt from disclosing certain financial data under 'top-level directives.'
NIOC officials claim that this fine is not a standard corporate debt, but rather an impossible-to-pay tax penalty that has left their bank accounts frozen by the Bank of Industry and Mine.
