Iran-Oman Talks on Hormuz Strait Set to Continue Amid US Demands
Oman's Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi is set to visit Iran on Tuesday to continue talks between the two countries over the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway, a key shipping route for oil and gas, has been under Iranian control since February 28, with vessels required to obtain permission and pay transit fees before passing through.
The United States wants the strait to return to its pre-war system of free navigation, but Iran says that would not be enough to open the waterway without meeting broader demands, including the lifting of the US blockade on Iranian ports. Al-Busaidi will meet with Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss bilateral and regional issues.
