Iran Resists US Sanctions Amid Ongoing Economic Struggles
The Iranian government has stated its intention to resist US sanctions and what it calls 'US-Israeli conspiracies.' The statement, carried by state media, emphasizes that diplomacy and defense are 'complementary, coordinated and inseparable' tools for protecting the country's national interests.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian acknowledged in a television interview that his country would negotiate with the US but remain wary of Washington. He stressed that Tehran would only abide by its commitments if the other side does the same.
Pezeshkian noted that Iran had exported nearly 90 million barrels of oil during the period the agreement was implemented, as per the memorandum signed in June. The agreement aimed to lift a naval blockade and sanctions on Iran's oil and petrochemical industries, as well as release frozen Iranian assets.
