Iran Restores 70% of Damaged Refinery Capacity After Israeli Attack
An Israeli attack on Iran's South Pars gas field in June 2025 damaged several facilities, including Phase 14 of the refinery. According to Touraj Dehghani, Managing Director of Pars Oil and Gas Company, reconstruction began immediately after the attack.
Dehghani stated that three production lines were damaged and that they can be back in operation within less than 10 days. The refinery capacity recovery has reached 70 percent, with the remaining affected capacity expected to resume operations by March 2027.
The damage was part of a larger conflict that began on February 28, 2025, which involved Israel and Iran. The National Iranian Oil Company and Pars Oil and Gas Company were tasked with rebuilding the third and fifth refineries, which suffered more damage.
South Pars is one of the main sources of Iran's natural gas production, designed to process around 56.6 million cubic meters of gas per day. Dehghani stated that Iran aims to complete the reconstruction within two years.
