Iran Sets Conditions for Opening Strait of Hormuz Amid Maritime Blockade
Iran's Security Chief Mohsen Rezaei stated that Tehran is preparing a list of conditions to open the Strait of Hormuz, in response to a request by mediators. According to Reuters, citing an interview on Lebanese Hezbollah-affiliated Al Manar TV, Rezaei said Iran's conditions include ending the war in the region.
Iran has been under maritime blockade, and its oil sales have been severely impacted as a result. However, during the ceasefire, Iran was able to export between 70 million and 80 million barrels of oil, breaking the blockade, Rezaei claimed.
The US must first take practical steps to fulfill Iran's conditions before the country will proceed with opening the Strait of Hormuz, Rezaei stated. If the maritime blockade continues, Iran warned that it would target US economic interests.
