Iran Strikes Back at US Forces with Ballistic Missile Attack in Jordan
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a large-scale ballistic missile attack on US military bases in Jordan, targeting facilities used by American fighter jets. The operation, dubbed 'Punishment of the Aggressor,' used both solid- and liquid-fuel missiles to strike maintenance hangars, parking areas, and shelters at Al Azraq air base.
The IRGC identified Al Azraq as a primary target, along with additional strikes at Muwaffaq Salti and Prince Hassan air bases. The Iranian force said multiple impacts were recorded within the facilities, but the Jordanian military denied that the attacks caused casualties or damage.
The missile attack came in response to US Central Command forces' attack on five Iranian crude-oil tankers on September 8. Iran's military commanders portrayed the tanker attacks as evidence of US weakness and said they had exhausted American forces.
