Iran, Tajikistan Strengthen Energy Partnership with New Working Group
Iran and Tajikistan have strengthened their energy partnership by agreeing to establish a working group to examine mechanisms for exporting Iran's surplus oil products and supplying crude oil needed by Tajikistan's refineries.
The agreement follows high-level talks in Tehran, where Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad met with Dalir Juma, Tajikistan's Minister of Energy and Water Resources, and Azim Ibrahim, Tajikistan's Minister of Transport.
Paknejad stated that the bulk of discussions focused on exporting Iran's surplus oil products to help address issues facing Tajikistan in this area. He confirmed that various mechanisms have been considered for cooperation and a working group will be formed to examine the issues.
The agreement builds on previous engagements between the two countries, which have gathered pace throughout 2026. The energy partnership is expected to positively impact overall economic and commercial relations between Iran and Tajikistan.
