Iran Targets 45 Tankers with Fines and Confiscation Threats

The Persian Gulf Strait Authority, a new body set up by Iran, has blacklisted 45 tankers that broke its rules for crossing the Strait of Hormuz. These vessels could be fined, detained, and have their cargoes confiscated, according to an X post from the authority.

Some of the named ships are owned by ADNOC Logistics and Shipping (ADNOC L&S), Navig8 Tankers, and Bahri. Any vessels involved in ship-to-ship transfers with the named vessels could be added to the blacklist, the Iranian X post added.

The warning comes days after the US threatened Iran with 'the toughest sanctions in history', and Iran said its response would be 'devastating'. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway that supplied about 20 percent of the world's daily crude oil and liquefied natural gas before the Iran conflict disrupted tanker traffic.
