Iran Threatens Neighbors Against Joining U.S. Economic Efforts
The hard-line leader of Iran's Supreme National Security Council has threatened neighboring countries against joining new U.S. efforts to squeeze Tehran's economy.
Mohsen Rezaei, named this month as part of senior appointments seen as hardening Tehran's political and military stance, warned that if neighbors join what he described as the economic war against Iran, Iran would target oil-shipping routes out of the Persian Gulf.
Rezaei said those neighbors would be considered enemies and 'we will target their interests,' adding that discussions with Oman over management of the Strait of Hormuz were ongoing, and fees would be imposed.
