Iran Threatens Regional Energy Targets Amid US Strike Considerations
Iran has warned that it will target key energy infrastructure in several Middle Eastern countries if the US or Israel launches fresh military strikes. According to a report by Iran's state-affiliated Tasnim News Agency, Tehran has identified major oil and gas installations across Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Israel as potential targets.
The reported targets include Saudi Arabia's Ghawar oil field, which is the world's largest conventional oil field, as well as the Abqaiq and Khurais processing facilities. In the UAE, Iran named the Zakum oil field and the Ruways refinery, while Qatar's North Field and Ras Laffan natural gas facilities also featured on the reported list.
A senior Iranian security official described reports of possible US and Israeli attacks on Iranian infrastructure as 'a kind of madness.' The official said, 'We have prepared a comprehensive plan to respond to any potential American recklessness,' adding that Iran's armed forces have both 'the capability and the will' to carry out strikes on regional energy infrastructure if attacked.
