Iran Threatens Retaliation Against US Energy Assets Amid Ongoing Tensions
Iran has threatened to retaliate against any new US attacks on its assets, warning that energy infrastructure across the Gulf is vulnerable. The threat comes after the latest clashes between Iran and the US, which have pushed oil prices up near six-week highs.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said 'strike our assets and you get struck', emphasizing the country's willingness to defend itself. He also pointed out that US energy interests in the region are exposed and accessible.
The tensions between Iran and the US have been escalating over the past few days, with both sides trading blows. On Sunday, senior Iranian security official Mohsen Rezaei announced a new restricted zone in the Gulf, where any vessel entering would be placed on an Iranian sanctions list.
