Iran Unveils Major Gas Field Discovery in Southern Fars Province
Iran has discovered a major new gas field in southern Fars province, with recoverable reserves estimated at around 5.7 trillion cubic feet.
The newly discovered field, known as Takht-e, contains sweet natural gas, which is expected to reduce development and operating costs due to its relatively low levels of sulfur compounds.
The field also includes substantial quantities of gas condensate, a valuable hydrocarbon liquid produced alongside natural gas.
The combined resources of the discovery have been valued by Iran's Petroleum Minister Mohsen Paknejad at tens of billions of dollars, which he says will create 'a new source of wealth for the country.'
