Iran Unveils Plan for Exclusion Zone Near Critical Oil Transit Route

Iran's Supreme National Security Council head Mohsen Rezaei announced plans to establish an 'exclusion zone' near the Strait of Hormuz, aimed at vessels attempting to transit the waterway.

The exclusion zone is expected to be announced in the coming days and weeks, stretching from the line of the US naval blockade to the Strait of Hormuz and into the Persian Gulf.

According to Rezaei, any ship that enters this area with the intention of passing through the Strait of Hormuz and is identified will be placed on Iran's sanctions list.

The move comes as tensions between the US and Iran escalate, following a recent attack by Iran on an unmanned US vessel trying to enter the Strait.
